Joke Lab

Producing a comedy show is like having a birthday party. You want everyone you know and love to be there but only because they want to be there. You want them to want to be there. On top of that, you’re also performing your art. It feels odd to assemble your humans and then proceed to be like LOOK AT ME! Look how freaking HiLariOuS I am!

On top of your own performance, you want all of the other comedians on the lineup to be hilarious. From the sidelines I like to analyze the audience and ask myself things like, are they having fun? Are they here because they want to be here? Or because they think I want them to want to be here?

It’s cute it’s fun, it’s a great time. By the end of the show everyone is drunk and high on laughter. Each time someone tells me they had a good time (and it feels genuine) I remember why I endure the stress of running a show.

So with that said, come to the Joke Lab, produced by yours truly and my other half Amelia Dahmer. This Thursday 12/15 at The Late Late, starts at 8PM. Ticket link in bio. Sorry if this feels like a sales pitch. Is it? Kind of but it’s also going to be really fun and I want you to want to be there.

Cheers!
